How we run a newsletter with two people

No budget, no ads, 14,000 readers. The schedule, the tools and the one rule that keeps it going.

How small teams plan, decide and rest.

Morrow goes out every Thursday to 14,000 people. Two of us make it, around other jobs.

The schedule is fixed. Pitches close on Friday, drafts are due Monday, edits happen Tuesday and the issue is built on Wednesday night.

The tools are boring on purpose: a shared document, a calendar and this website. Every tool we added and later removed cost us a week of confusion.

The one rule: we never skip an issue, but any issue can be short. A three-paragraph Thursday has kept the streak alive more than once.
